바늘을 바닥에 던져서 원주율을 구하는 방법

줄 간격과 길이가 같은 바늘을 줄무늬 바닥에 아무렇게나 던지면 줄에 걸칠 확률이 2/π예요. 그래서 많이 던져서 걸친 비율을 세면 원주율을 대략 구할 수 있어요. 18세기 프랑스 박물학자 뷔퐁이 낸 문제로, 확률로 원주율을 구하는 대표적인 예예요.
