여러 후보 중 최고를 고르려면 언제 멈춰야 할까
37% 법칙
후보를 한 명씩 보고 바로 뽑거나 버려야 할 때, 처음 37%쯤은 보기만 하고 그다음 그때까지 본 누구보다 나은 사람을 고르면 최고를 뽑을 확률이 가장 높아요. 수학에선 '비서 문제'로 불려요. 37%는 1/e에서 나온 숫자예요.

When you must accept or reject candidates one at a time, look at the first 37% or so without choosing, then pick the next one better than all before. That gives the best chance of landing the very best. Mathematicians call it the secretary problem, and 37% comes from 1/e.
