색 이름이 두 개뿐인 언어는 무슨 색일까
색 이름이 생기는 순서
1969년 언어학자 벌린과 케이는 여러 언어의 색 이름을 비교해, 색 이름이 늘어나는 순서에 규칙이 있다고 발표했어요. 이름이 두 개뿐이면 '어두운색'과 '밝은색', 세 번째는 거의 빨강이고 그다음이 초록이나 노랑, 파랑은 그 뒤에 생기는 경우가 많아요. 우리말에서 '푸르다'가 파랑과 초록을 함께 가리키는 것도 흥미로운 예예요.

The order of color words · If a language has only two color words, what are they?
In 1969, linguists Brent Berlin and Paul Kay compared color terms across languages and found a pattern in which colors get names. With two terms, they're dark and light; the third is almost always red, then green or yellow, with blue often later. Korean 'pureuda' covering both blue and green is a nice example.
