자주 쓰는 말일수록 짧은 이유
지프의 법칙
어떤 언어든 단어를 많이 쓰는 순서대로 세우면, 2등은 1등의 절반쯤, 3등은 3분의 1쯤 쓰이는 규칙이 나와요. 1930~40년대 언어학자 지프가 정리해서 지프의 법칙이라고 해요. 그는 자주 쓰는 말일수록 짧아지는 경향도 짚었는데, '나', '너', '이', '그' 같은 말이 짧은 것도 그래서예요.

Zipf's law · Why the most common words are the shortest
Rank a language's words by frequency, and the second is used about half as often as the first, the third about a third as often. Linguist George Zipf described this in the 1930s–40s. He also noted that frequent words tend to be short.
