토성 고리가 가끔 안 보인다는 그거

토성 고리는 지름은 엄청 크지만 두께는 아주 얇아요. 토성과 지구가 도는 위치가 맞으면 고리를 정확히 옆에서 보게 돼 망원경으로도 거의 안 보여요. 이런 때가 13~15년마다 오고, 최근엔 2025년 3월이었어요.

Saturn's rings are enormous across but extremely thin. When Saturn and Earth line up just right, we see them exactly edge-on and they nearly vanish even in telescopes. This happens every 13 to 15 years, most recently in March 2025.
