바닷물이 하루 두 번 들어왔다 나가는 이유
밀물과 썰물
달의 끌어당기는 힘 때문에 지구 바닷물이 달 쪽과 그 반대쪽 두 군데로 부풀어요. 지구가 하루 한 바퀴 돌면서 이 두 곳을 지나니 하루 두 번씩 물이 차고 빠져요. 달이 매일 조금씩 늦게 뜨니 물때도 하루 50분쯤씩 늦어져요.

Tides · Why the sea comes in and goes out twice a day
The moon's pull makes Earth's oceans bulge in two places: toward the moon and on the opposite side. As Earth spins once a day it passes both, so water rises and falls twice daily. The moon rises later each day, so the tides shift about 50 minutes later daily.
