강물은 안 짠데 바다는 왜 짤까
바다가 짠 이유
빗물이 땅과 바위를 깎으면서 녹여 낸 소금기 성분이 강을 타고 바다로 흘러가요. 바닷물은 증발해도 소금은 남으니 수억 년 동안 조금씩 쌓인 거예요. 바다 밑 화산이나 뜨거운 물이 솟는 곳에서 나오는 성분도 보태져요.

Rain wears down rocks and dissolves minerals, and rivers carry those salts to the sea. When seawater evaporates the salt stays behind, so it has built up over hundreds of millions of years. Undersea volcanoes and hot vents add to it too.
