미모사 잎을 건드리면 잎자루 밑의 세포에서 물이 순식간에 빠져나가 잎이 접혀요. 벌레나 동물에게 먹히지 않으려는 방어로 보여요. 몇 분 지나면 물이 다시 차서 잎이 펴져요. 밤에도 잎을 접고 자요.

Touch a mimosa and cells at the base of the leaves rapidly lose water, so the leaflets fold. It's thought to deter animals and insects. A few minutes later the water returns and they reopen. They also fold up at night.
