1518년 7월 지금의 프랑스 스트라스부르에서 한 여성이 거리에서 춤을 추기 시작했고, 몇 주 만에 수십에서 수백 명이 따라 멈추지 못하고 춤을 췄다고 기록돼 있어요. 원인은 아직 확실하지 않은데, 극심한 굶주림과 스트레스 속에서 생긴 집단 심리 현상이라는 설명이 많아요.

In July 1518 in Strasbourg, now in France, a woman began dancing in the street, and within weeks dozens to hundreds reportedly joined, unable to stop. The cause is still uncertain, but many explain it as a mass psychological reaction to severe famine and stress.
