사고나 병 같은 나쁜 일은 남보다 나에게 덜 일어나고, 좋은 일은 더 일어날 거라고 믿는 경향이에요. 1980년 심리학자 와인스타인이 대학생 조사로 보여 줬어요. 덕분에 희망을 갖고 살지만, 보험이나 건강검진을 미루게 만들기도 해요.

Optimism bias · Why bad things seem to happen only to other people
We believe bad events like accidents or illness are less likely to happen to us than to others, and good ones more likely. Psychologist Neil Weinstein showed it in a 1980 survey of college students. It keeps us hopeful but can make us put off insurance or checkups.
