사람은 숫자를 왼쪽부터 읽어서, 9,900원을 보면 맨 앞의 '9'에 눈이 먼저 가 1만 원보다 훨씬 싸게 느껴요. 이걸 '왼쪽 자릿수 효과'라고 해요. 중고차 주행거리가 9만 9천 km에서 10만 km로 넘어갈 때 값이 뚝 떨어진다는 분석도 있어요.
