한 가지에 집중하면 눈앞의 뜻밖의 것을 아예 못 보는 '무주의 맹시'를 보여 준 실험이에요. 1999년 사이먼스와 차브리스가 농구공 패스 횟수를 세게 했더니, 고릴라 옷을 입은 사람이 화면 가운데를 지나가도 절반쯤은 보지 못했어요. 운전 중에 폰을 보면 위험한 이유이기도 해요.

It demonstrates inattentional blindness: focusing on one thing can make you miss something obvious. In 1999, Simons and Chabris had viewers count basketball passes, and about half missed a person in a gorilla suit walking through. It's one reason phone use while driving is dangerous.
