갓난아기는 뼈가 300개 가까이 되지만 어른은 206개 안팎이에요. 머리뼈나 엉치뼈처럼 여러 조각이던 뼈가 자라면서 하나로 붙기 때문이에요. 아기 정수리가 말랑한 것(숫구멍)도 아직 머리뼈가 덜 붙어서예요.
