In English

Benford's law · Real-world numbers most often start with 1

In real-world data like bills, populations, or stock prices, about 30% of numbers start with 1, and fewer than 5% start with 9. Simon Newcomb noticed in 1881 that the early pages of logarithm tables were the most worn, and Frank Benford restated it in 1938. Auditors use it to spot faked figures.
