기억은 그걸 배울 때의 장소나 분위기와 함께 저장돼서, 같은 환경에 있으면 더 잘 떠올라요. 1975년 영국 실험에서 잠수부들이 물속에서 외운 단어는 물속에서, 땅 위에서 외운 단어는 땅 위에서 더 잘 기억해 냈어요. 깜빡한 게 있으면 그때 그 자리를 떠올려 보는 게 도움이 돼요.

Memories are stored along with the place and mood you learned them in, so the same setting helps recall. In a 1975 British study, divers remembered words learned underwater better underwater, and words learned on land better on land. Picturing where you were can bring a lost memory back.
