물방울 덩어리인 구름은 왜 안 떨어질까
구름이 떠 있는 이유
구름 물방울은 빗방울의 백분의 일쯤 될 만큼 아주 작아서 떨어지는 속도가 엄청 느려요. 게다가 위로 올라가는 공기에 받쳐져서 떠 있는 것처럼 보여요. 물방울들이 뭉쳐 무거워지면 그제야 비가 돼 떨어져요.

Cloud droplets are tiny, roughly a hundredth the size of raindrops, so they fall extremely slowly. Rising air holds them up, so they seem to float. Only when droplets merge and grow heavy do they fall as rain.
