고도가 바뀌면 바깥 기압과 귓속 기압이 달라져서 고막이 눌려요. 코와 귀를 잇는 관(귀인두관)이 열려야 맞춰지는데, 침을 삼키거나 하품하면 잘 열려요. 아기에게 내려갈 때 젖병을 물리는 것도 이 때문이에요.

As altitude changes, the pressure outside and inside your ear differs and pushes on the eardrum. A tube linking the nose and ear has to open to even it out, and swallowing or yawning helps. That's why babies are given a bottle during descent.
