나무늘보는 왜 그렇게 느릿느릿할까
나무늘보가 느린 이유
나무늘보는 영양이 적은 나뭇잎만 먹고, 소화하는 데도 오래 걸려요. 그래서 에너지를 아끼려고 아주 천천히 움직이고 체온도 낮게 유지해요. 느리고 조용한 덕분에 천적 눈에도 잘 안 띄고, 털에는 초록 조류가 자라기도 해요.

Why sloths are slow · Why sloths move so slowly
Sloths eat only low-nutrient leaves that take a long time to digest. So they save energy by moving very slowly and keeping body temperature low. Being slow and quiet also hides them from predators, and green algae can grow in their fur.
